Well of Wisdom is a Christian children’s ministry in Samaypur, North Delhi, India. Nearby is one of Delhi’s largest landfills, surrounded by slum communities where some of the poorest families live. For many of them, garbage has become a means of survival. Every day, people come to the landfill searching through the waste for plastic, metal, and anything else they can sell.
This is the environment where these children are growing up. Every day, they see poverty, filth, and the struggle to meet even the most basic needs. Some begin helping their families survive at a very young age. But we believe that where a child is born should not determine their future.
That is why Well of Wisdom was born. Why “Well of Wisdom”? These children need food, education, and care. But more than anything, they need Jesus, who said: “Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.” (John 4:14)
The Bible also says: “For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” (Proverbs 2:6) God is the Source of wisdom that never runs dry. Jesus gives living water and eternal life. Our greatest desire is to introduce these children to Jesus Christ and help them discover a different future.
What do we do? Well of Wisdom brings together evangelism, discipleship, education, nutrition, and practical care. Children hear the Good News of Jesus, study the Bible, memorize Scripture, pray, and worship God. We help them with their education and provide school supplies, food, and hygiene essentials. We also teach them how to care for their health and treat others with respect.
And we are already seeing lives change. Children who once struggled to memorize even one line of Scripture now confidently recite Bible verses in front of other children. Shy children are beginning to participate and interact with others. Those who struggled with discipline are becoming more attentive and responsible. Parents tell us they are seeing these changes at home as well.
By God’s grace, we have already purchased land for our own children’s center. Here, children will be able to regularly study the Bible, receive educational support and nutritious food, pray, build friendships, and grow in a Christ-centered environment.
Imagine the contrast. Just a short distance away, people search through garbage for something that will help them survive another day. We want to build a place where children can discover Something—and Someone—who can change their lives forever.
We cannot eliminate poverty or remove a massive landfill overnight. But we can reach the children growing up beside it. We can feed them. We can educate them. We can show them another way of life. And most importantly, we can lead them to Jesus.
Food can satisfy hunger for a day. Education can change a child’s future. But Jesus gives living water and eternal life. This is the heart of Well of Wisdom.
Well of Wisdom is a source of hope beside a landfill. Help us bring the Good News, education, nutritious food, and hope to children growing up beside one of Delhi’s largest landfills. We long to see the words of the prophet Isaiah become a reality in their lives: “With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.” (Isaiah 12:3)

The Well of Wisdom – Rescuing Children Living on a Dumping Ground in Delhi
