The Pearl of Tibet – Children’s Home in Nepal

Everest is the highest mountain on Earth. It stands in the Himalayas, where the border between Nepal and China runs. And there, among Nepal’s majestic mountains, lives an ethnic group known as the Bhotia or Tibetans. In 2015, Stan and Lana had a prophetic dream in which God revealed this people to them.

Tibetan villages are surrounded by the impenetrable Himalayan mountains. No roads have been built through these rugged peaks. To reach this Tibetan people, Stan and Lana had to travel along dangerous mountain trails. At times, the paths were so narrow that a single misstep could send them plunging into an endless abyss.

When it rained, landslides occurred in the mountains. Massive boulders came crashing down, making the journey even more perilous. Stan and Lana trekked on foot through the Himalayas for two weeks. They climbed to high summits, gasping for breath — not from the beauty, but from exhaustion. They descended into valleys, crossed rushing rivers on foot, and suffered from aching knees and backs.

Stan and Lana met Tibetans along the way and shared the message of Christ with them. They traveled from village to village, telling Buddhists about Jesus. The Nepalis, Gurungs, Sherpas, Lhomis, Nawa people, and many others — whose names are difficult to remember — all heard about Christ.

Some families lived in extreme poverty. Many made a desperate plea to Stan and Lana to take their children to a Christian children’s home. The parents of these children had perished in the mountains. One had been bitten by a snake, another buried under rocks, and some had fallen into deep ravines. Other children were born into alcoholic families, left with no one to care for them.

Our mission, Jesus Unlimited, has built a safe haven for Tibetan children in Nepal. These children need monthly financial support. Stan and Lana invite you to join this project and help us transform the lives of these orphaned children. You will come to love the Tibetan people just as much as we do — because love comes from God.

The Pearl of Tibet – Children’s Home in Nepal

The Pearl of Tibet - Children's Home in Nepal
In 2018 we bought a piece of land in Nepal. We completed all the paperwork for the project and started building the children’s home. The parents of these children died from the bite of snakes, were killed by the landslides in the Himalayan mountains or fell into the abyss. Other children were born in poor families, where parents are alcoholics and are not able to care for their sons and daughters. There are no medical facilities in the mountains. Villagers are dying from alcohol. Communist rebels tortured and killed Christians. Children lost their parents and became orphans.

The Pearl of Tibet - Children's Home in Nepal
Heavy rain started! The ground was soaked, and the equipment got stuck in the mud. We were excavating a foundation pit, but it kept collapsing!

The Pearl of Tibet - Children's Home in Nepal
We urgently started building stone retaining walls. Such walls do not allow the land to collapse onto the construction site.

The Pearl of Tibet - Children's Home in Nepal
Where there were no walls, we used sandbags. But despite all our efforts, our neighbor’s house slid into the foundation pit! The neighbor was very upset.

The Pearl of Tibet - Children's Home in Nepal
With great difficulty, we completed the foundation.

The Pearl of Tibet - Children's Home in Nepal
Nepal is located in one of the most seismically active regions of the world. We use special steel rods to make the house stronger.

The ground floor is complete!

The second floor is complete!

The third floor is complete!

Nepal is all mountains and hills, so the back side of the house is attached to a hill. And we rebuilt our neighbor’s house! The neighbor was happy.

The fourth floor is complete!

Now we need to do plaster, plumbing, and electric work.
